Important safety information to review before booking or taking part in a snow-sports lesson. 1. Inherent risks Skiing and snowboarding involve changing snow, ice, weather and visibility; falls; collisions with people, lifts, terrain or objects; equipment failure; cold and altitude exposure; avalanche or off-piste hazards; and risks of serious injury, disability or death. Instruction can reduce some risks but cannot remove them. 2. Health and ability Choose a lesson and terrain suitable for each participant’s health, fitness, experience and ability. Disclose information reasonably needed for safe instruction, seek medical advice if unsure, stop when unwell or unsafe, and do not participate while impaired by alcohol, drugs or unsuitable medication. 3. Equipment and Japanese resort rules Use properly fitted and maintained equipment and recommended protective gear, including a suitable helmet. Obey signs, closures, lift instructions, Japanese law, local snow-sports codes, resort patrol and emergency directions. A booking includes a lift pass, equipment or rescue only when expressly stated. 4. Weather and route decisions Conditions can change quickly. A coach, resort or authority may change, pause or cancel a lesson or route for safety. Do not enter closed or off-piste areas without the competence, permission, equipment and professional guidance required by the resort and applicable law. 5. Minors and groups A parent or lawful guardian must provide accurate age, ability, health and emergency information for a minor, remain contactable and follow handover arrangements. Each group member must follow instructions and avoid endangering others. Group instruction cannot provide uninterrupted one-to-one supervision. 6. Emergencies and insurance Know how to contact resort patrol and Japanese emergency services. Rescue, medical, evacuation, repatriation, trip interruption and third-party liability costs may be substantial. Participants should obtain insurance that covers the activity, location, instruction level and any off-piste participation and should review exclusions themselves. 7. Coach and platform boundaries The independent coach must exercise reasonable skill and care and satisfy local work, tax, insurance, qualification and resort requirements. It does not exclude responsibility for negligence, fraud, wilful misconduct, breach of duty, death or personal injury where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, or any mandatory statutory or consumer right.
